April Indoor Fly

April showers bring out indoor kiters! On Saturday April 16th we rented the gymnasium at the Port Colborne High School to try our second attempt at indoor kite flying. The modified Ginga kite designed by Lucy and Kerry was just the kite to test our skills. Fred and Donna where at the gym first, I arrived soon after and then Lisa (Taylor), Bob Luft, Vaino and Paul and Mary Kort rounded out the attendance. Donna had made up some short flying lines for the Gingas and we all had our chance to test them out. Bob brought his usual array of light homemade kites of various designs, and Vaino brought his Skate kite (the kite that was the inspiration for the Ginga). For most of the afternoon we ran around the gym in sock feet and flew the kites.

I, also brought the new kite I finally put the finishing touches on the day before so I could take a good picture of it. It's 10 feet tall and 10 feet wide! You can see it in some of the pictures above.

We all were tuckered out by 3:30 and that's when I left. I for one had a fun "workout" running around with my kite. It flew perfectly!

Our next fly is on May29 at Lakeside Park (the regular spot) from 12 to 4. Let's hope for great weather to start the season off right.
